Pins

Piston pins (gudgeon pins) are among the most highly stressed components in an internal combustion engine. Acting as the direct mechanical link between the piston and the connecting rod, they transfer immense combustion forces under extreme acceleration, alternating loads, and thermal stress.

At DP Engine Parts, our high-performance piston pins are engineered to eliminate distortion, withstand extreme cylinder pressures, and significantly reduce reciprocating mass without compromising structural integrity.

Key Features & Technical Specifications

  • Premium Alloy Metallurgy: Manufactured from top-grade steel alloys (such as 8620, H13 tool steel and M2 high speed steel) to ensure exceptional core toughness and tensile strength under heavy boost and high-RPM conditions.
  • Precision Centerless Grinding & Superfinishing: Finished to sub-micron tolerances for perfect roundness, straightness, and an ultra-smooth surface finish that minimizes friction with small-end rod bushings and piston pin bosses.
  • Optimized Wall Thickness & Taper Bores: Engineered with straight-wall or internal taper profiles to balance maximum rigidity with optimal weight reduction for specific engine applications.

Engineered for Extreme Applications

Whether you are building a high-boost turbo engine, a high-revving naturally aspirated race unit, or a custom motorsport application, choosing the right piston pin is vital to preventing engine failure.

Our piston pins are fully compatible with custom forged pistons and performance connecting rods, delivering the reliability needed to dominate on the track, drag strip, or dyno.

Dp manufactures its own highest quality billet piston pins using very high quality steel, tool steel and high speed steel materials with very low Sulphur contents, lowest than 0.005%. All piston pins are manufactured in very small batches for ensuring highest accuracy and are subject to dedicated heat treatments and surface treatments that increases pin life.

The correct piston specification depends on the power level, torque output, boost pressure, fuel type, RPM range, and intended use of the engine. For this reason, DP Engine Parts offers three different racing piston categories, each engineered for a specific performance level.
